A complete plant for the production of the radioactive element polonium for use by Israeli scientists and research institutions has been offered Premier David Ben Gurion by Dr. Boris Pregel of New York, president of the Canadian Radium and Uranium Corporation, it was learned here today.
The plant, worth $150,000, will enable Israel to produce for itself certain radioactive preparations needed for research in various fields of science, including medicine and physics. The installation, including 1, 000 pounds of radioactive lead as a primary material–this is not available generally on the market–is already en route to the Jewish State. Operations will begin in the near future.
