The Israel Government has instructed Aubrey Eban, its chief United Nations delegate, to continue negotations with Egypt, it was reliably reported here today. Mr. Eban is expected to meet in Geneva today or tomorrow with the representative of Egypt who is attending the U.N. Trusteeship Council meeting on the internationalization of Jerusalem.
Meanwhile, the Damascus radio today reported that Syrian and Lebanese frontier guards have been ordered to shoot any person trying to cross the border into Israel. The orders were issued following the arrest, by Lebanese security forces, of 15 Palestinian Arabe who tried to enter Israel.
The same broadcast announced that Syria spent about $160,000,000 last year on its army. The expenditure were covered by a loan, the announcement said.
Commenting on the modified plan for the internationalization of Jerusalem submitted to the U.N. Trusteeship Council by its president Ambassador Roger Garreau, the Arab broadcast said that the proposal cannot be considered a compromise since both Israel and Jordan, the two countries which are most concerned with Jerusalem, refuse to accept it.
