The Government plans to set up a permanent coordinating committee representing government, unions and manufacturers, to deal with wage and price problems, Finance Minister Pinhas Sapir announced today.
Speaking at a meeting with representatives of political parties on wage and price increase demands, the Minister also urged the Histadrut, Israel’s Labor Federation, to restrain wage demands of unions. He said the unions could not simultaneously present “exorbitant” claims for higher pay while also urging efforts to stem inflation.
