Officials of the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra expressed astonishment today over the decision of the Government to withdraw its allocation of 120, 000 pounds(140, 000) because the orchestra had raised its subscription rates.
The officials said they had received a letter from the Finance Ministry several months ago criticizing the increase in admission prices but that the letter did not include any ban of such a increase. The officials added that the increases had been paid “willingly” by subscribers, and this fact had been made known.
