Interior Minister Israel Rokach has acceded to a request from Israel’s Druze community that the government permit Druze leaders from Syria and Lebanon to visit the grave of Jethro, father-in-law of Moses, which is located in Galiles. The Druze leaders in Syria and Lebanon have not yet received permission from their own governments for the journey.
The Knesset’s Committee for Interior Affairs today asked Minister Rokach to organize assistance for Israeli Bedouins living in the Negev who suffered from the effects of the drought. Meanwhile, Minister Joseph Serlin announced that the Bedouins would each receive 10 kilos (approximately 22 pounds) of flour free from the government each month.
