Part of a $10,000,000 credit provided Liberia for construction and development projects will be spent in Israel for Israeli building materials, Emmet Hermon, director of the Liberian Development Company, announced. The credit in Israeli currency was provided Liberia by the Liberian Construction Corporation, headed by Moshe Meir.
Mr. Hermon, accompanied by Mr. Meir, visited Israel President Itzhak Ben Zvi and later Finance Minister Levi Eshkol. The announcement of Liberia’s Intention of purchasing goods in this country was made to Mr. Eshkol. He told Mr. Eshkol that there was a good prospect for expansion of Israeli-Liberian economic relations.
Liberia was pictured as interested in Israeli construction materials in exchange for unpolished diamonds, raw rubber and timber. Mr. Hermon will also arrange for Liberian students to study at Israeli universities.
