Israel denied today Syrian claims that drainage canal excavation had been halted in the northeastern area of the Huleh region in response to Syrian charges that the work was being carried out on Syrian soil.
The Jewish National Fund, owner of the entire tract being reclaimed from the Huleh swamp said that work had been halted temporarily to permit surveyors to verify the canal Led. Work will resume immediately after the surveyors complete their checks, JNF officials said.
