On the eve of tomorrow’s scheduled signing of the Soviet American British treaty to ban further testing of nuclear weapons in the atmosphere, outer space or under water, the Israel Government today authorized its Ambassadors to Moscow, Washington and London to sign that pact.
At the same time, the envoys were instructed to simultaneously request the Big Three powers to support Israel’s proposal for a regional disarmament plan for the Middle East, under which the Arab states and Israel would agree to disarm under mutual control.
The Israeli proposal for Big Three backing of the Middle East regional disarmament plan, was relayed previously to the Ambassadors here representing the United States, Britain and the USSR. Dr. Hayim Yahil, director-general of the Foreign Ministry, held separate meetings with the three envoys, and made his request while informing them formally that Israel would sign the treaty calling for a partial ban of nuclear testing. That treaty is scheduled to be signed in Moscow tomorrow.
