Israel is interested in seeing Lebanon survive, Dr. Giora Josephthal, secretary general of the Mapai, Israel’s largest party and leading force in the government, declared at a public meeting at Kfar Ata last night.

He added that as long as the United Nations does not have a military force of its own, its guarantees are unable to safeguard the sovereignty of a small state menaced by more powerful neighbors.
