Israel killed five Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The deaths occurred Monday in the town of Beit Lahiya after Israel fired on a house where suspected terrorists were hiding. The deaths were the latest in fighting that began in late June after Palestinians attacked an Israeli army base, killing two soldiers and capturing another. Israel launched a retaliatory operation aimed at retrieving the soldier and halting Palestinian rocket attacks.
