The Israel Government denied last night any knowledge of reported talks between the United States and other countries on a solution to the Arab refugee problem. The denial was made by a Foreign Ministry spokesman.

The same spokesman said that recent visitors to the Arab states reported that the Arab governments had learned that the Arab refugee problem was a “double edge sword” which could not be used only to hack away at Israel. He referred to recent riots in Arab states where refugees were being kept in temporary quarters along Israel’s borders as a political weapon rather than resettled in the interior and helped to live normal lives.

However, the Israeli spokesman expressed the opinion that this realization of the danger of further exploitation of the Arab refugee plight had not yet progressed to the point where the Arab leaders were ready to act on a solution.
