The executive of the Histadrut, Israel’s federation of labor, today sent cables to the executives of trade union federations in the Soviet Union, Rumania and Hungary suggesting that a meeting of Histadrut representatives and delegations of the trade unions from these three countries should take place for the purpose of discussing matters relating to Jewish emigration from the U.S.S.R., Rumania and Hungary to Israel.
The Histadrut expressed its readiness to meet the delegations from the three countries at any place they designate. The cables came as a result of discussions on Jewish immigration to Israel which were initiated in Milan, Italy, between representatives of the Histadrut and trade union leaders from countries behind the Iron Curtain who attended the international trade union conference in the Italian city.
