Despite ten years of Arab hostility and interference, the State of Israel has made some of the most important health advances in the world, Dr. Miriam K. Freund, president of Hadassah, declared here last night upon her return from a visit to Israel where she inspected Hadassah medical and welfare institutions.
Dr. Freund noted that life expectancy in Israel has risen to a point where it rivals that of the United States, being higher for men and only slightly lower for women than in this country. Infant mortality rate has dropped steadily for 127 per 1,000 in 1922 to 32 per 1,000 last year. She pointed out that official reports credit Hadassah and other voluntary organizations working in Israel for their contributions toward those favorable developments.
