General Yigal Allon, Minister of Labor of the State of Israel, arrived at Idlewild Airport today for a three week tour of major communities in the United States and Canada in behalf of the Israel bond drive.
General Allon’s visit coincides with peak activity for the Fall phase of the 1962 Israel bond campaign, during which some $36,000,000 must be raised to achieve the quota of $66, 500, 000 for the entire year. General Allon is widely known for his outstanding leadership as Commander-in-Chief of the Palmach, the shock troop division of the Jewish Defense Forces in Palestine, which played a major role in Israel’s struggle for independence.
