The possibility of close economic collaboration between Israel and Belgium was held out here today by Michael Amir, newly appointed Israel Minister to Brussels, when he presented his credentials to the acting Foreign Minister.
After the ceremony, which formally marked the initiation of diplomatic relations between the two nations, Mr. Amir said that there was no reason why Israel and Belgium should not sign a trade pact, such as has been signed with a number of other countries. He pointed out that Belgium can supply many industrial products to Israel and can lend it technical assistance. Mr. Amir also stated that 41 nations have already extended be jure recognition to his government.
