Dr. Waiter Eytan, Director-General of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, told a public meeting here last night that “we cannot change the fact that Germany is becoming Europe’s biggest power.” He declared that “the question now is whether Israel can disregard this important German factor” and warned that “Jewish personal feelings toward Germany cannot influence Israel’s foreign policy.”
The need for solving the question of German-Israel relations was stressed here last week by Dr. F. Shinnar and Hillel Dan, Israeli reparations experts, who pointed out that a number of questions stemming from the reparations agreement and bearing on relations between the two countries must be resolved in the near future.
