Israel Names Consul for Budapest; Members of Bucharest Legation Staff Leave Today

Shmuel Paterfi, who was born in Hungary and has resided in Palestine for ten years, was today named Israeli consul to Budapest. He is 40 years old. Rabbi Moshe Weinberger, former Chief Rabbi of Klausenburg, was appointed immigration officer and cultural attache at the Budapest consulate.

Members of the Israeli legation staff assigned to Bucharest are scheduled the leave for Rumania tomorrow. Included in the party is Second Secretary Aviezer Chelouche and Yehuda Gold, commercial attache.

The World Jewish Congress announced through representatives here today that it had approached the International Red Cross asking it to dispatch investigation teams to the Arab countries to review the conditions of the Jewish detainees in camps there. The Congress based its request on the decision of the international body at its Stockholm conference that it should care not only for war prisoners but also for political detainees.
