Magen David Adom, Israel’s official Red Cross service, needs immediately six bloodmobiles for its national blood service. “These vehicles are essential for the collection of blood and for the transportation of blood and blood products to Israel’s hospitals and Army Medical Corps units,” said Congressman Emanual Celler. (D.,N.Y.) national chairman of American Red Magen David for Israel, Magen David Adom’s supply wing in the United States. “Each bloodmobile costs $14,000.” said Celler, “and I urge all who are concerned for the well-being of Israel’s defenders and settlers to support this worthwhile program.” Meanwhile, in Tel Aviv, Magen David Adom announced a program to unite its nationwide emergency medical services via a new radio network. The estimated cost of the master control station and eight regional stations will be $500,000.
