Israeli authorities, while prepared to extend the fullest co-operation to the Palestine Conciliation Commission, are unable to see any purpose served by a piece-meal approach to the problem of peace in the Middle East, official circles said today. They disclosed that the outline of the commission’s proposals submitted to the delegations at the Paris conference last Thursday, would be considered at tomorrow’s weekly Cabinet meeting.
Officials here criticized the apparent intention of the commission to select one or other of the issues separating Israel and the Arab states for their eventual, separate solution, disregarding Israel’s insistence on reaching on overall peace agreement prior to individual consideration of conflicting claims.
Informed sources here said it was impossible to consider for the time being even the partial return of Arab refugees as long as there is no peace settlement and the Arab anti-Israel boycott continues, since these two factors threaten Israel’s security and economic development.
