The Israel Parliament today met in solemn session to mark the end of the traditional seven-day mourning period for Dr. Chaim Weizmann.
For the first time in the history of the Knesset the President’s box was occupied by someone other than the President; Mrs. Vera Weizmann and other members of the late President’s family sat in the box and heard eulogies delivered by representatives of every party.
After the session ended Mrs. Weizmann issued a statement of “profound gratitude” to the people and Government of Israel, to the nations of the world and their leaders, as well as to leaders of the Jewish communities of the world and to personal friends, for their expressions of sympathy.
