Israel is prepared to welcome Ambassador Gunnar V. Jarring, the United Nations special representative in the Middle East, and will gladly cooperate with him if he decides to reactivate his mission, Ambassador Yosef Tekoah of Israel said here today. In reply to questions he declared however that Israel’s cooperation would be contingent on Dr. Jarring having the same terms of reference–to bring the two sides in the Arab-Israel conflict together for negotiations without conditions prejudicial to either side. Asked what would be the envoy’s reception if he came bearing Four Power guidelines, Mr. Tekoah replied that would depend on whether the guidelines reflected the original terms of Dr. Jarring’s mandate. “Israel has no intention of becoming the Middle East Czechoslovakia,” he commented. “We will oppose any repetition of a Munich-like exercise in the Middle East.”
