Israel President Zalman Shazar left today from the resort of Vina del Mar for Montevideo to begin a week’s rest in the Uruguayan resort of Punta del Este. On hand to bid the Shazar party fare well after his triumphant two-week visit to Chile was Foreign Affairs Secretary Gabriel Valdes and other senior Chilean officials, Israeli embassy officials and leaders of the Jewish Community here.
President Shazar had been scheduled to leave Chile last Monday but when his scheduled visit to Argentina was canceled because of the political coup in that country, Chilean President Frei asked Mr. Shazar to extend his stay in Chile. Before his departure, President Shazar sent President Frei a message expressing his appreciation for the cordial hospitality shown the Israeli Chief of State during his visit.
