An Israeli purchasing commission which visited an industrial fair currently being held here has shown great interest in machine tools, cutting tools, pumps and irrigation equipment made in Germany. Management of the fair has reported that the German Government set aside 2,000,000 deutschemarks (approximately $500,000) for the Israelis to use to purchase goods at the fair.
(West Germany is currently on a campaign to improve trade relations with the Middle East and will shortly sign commercial agreements with several Arab countries, the London press reported today.)
The provincial government of Wuerttemberg-Baden by its favorable and speedy payment of indemnification to victims of the Nazis hopes to step up the pace of reparations payments made by the Federal Government, Victor Renner, Minister of Justice of Wuerttemberg-Baden, said today. He characterized the indemnification situation as far as the Federal Government is concerned as “almost stagnant.”
