Israel rejected a Syrian proposal to resume peace negotiations. Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s office confirmed Monday that an Israeli businessman was involved in contacts before the war in Iraq to discuss an initiative to renew negotiations. But Sharon’s office said the proposal did not seem serious.
