Israel rejected calls from the new Palestinian Authority prime minister for a truce to save the “road map” peace plan. “Give us a chance to prevent continued deterioration” of the situation, Ahmed Karia proposed in an interview published in Wednesday Ma’ariv newspaper in Israel. “We are ready to fulfill our obligations as outlined by the road map on condition that Israel fulfills its obligations as well,” he said.
