Israel’s new Chanuka coin commemorating the Festival of Lights, and issued by the Bank of Israel, is scheduled to be released late this month. According to Rafael Aldor, North American director of the Israel Government Coins and Medals Corp. in Jerusalem, this will be the first Issue within Israel’s numismatic program commemorating the 25th anniversary of its independence. This issue will also mark the reintroduction of the Chanuka series, which was discontinued in 1963.
