For the first time in Israel-Indian relations, an official Israel observer has addressed a conference sponsored by the Indian Government. He is Haim Yasset, director of the Social Service Department of the Israel Ministry of Social Welfare, who spoke at the Indian Social Conference in New Delhi.
Addressing the delegates in the English language, Mr. Yasset described Israel’s experiences in social welfare and received, during and after the conference, many requests for help from Israel. Indians attending the meeting included Dr. John Matthai, Minister of Finance, and A.V. Gadgil, Minister of Public Works, as well as representatives of the Ministries of Health, Education and Agriculture.
