Ambassador Yosef Tekoah, acting head of the Israel delegation, met today with United Nations Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold to continue an “exchange of views” on the threat to Middle East peace caused by massive United Arab Republic troop moves on Israel’s borders. The Israeli talks with the Secretary General had been interrupted by Mr. Hammarskjold’s brief visit to Sweden from which he returned this morning.
Diplomatic sources at the United Nations were quoted today as of the belief that there has been an easing of the situation following the prompt Israeli alert to the UAR moves and the diplomatic actions that ensued.
