Dr. F. Shinnar, Israel’s chief representative to West Germany on the reparations problem, left here suddenly today for Bonn to settle the problem of whether German reparations payments would be transported to Israel in German vessels or not. He is expected to return to Israel in ten days and then go back to West Germany with the full commission of Israeli experts who will order the goods and services Israel will receive as reparations.
Dr. Nahum Goldmann, Jewish Agency co-chairman, asked to comment on the demand by the German Parliament that German vessels be permitted to transport the reparations goods, suggested that the “matter should be settled with consideration for the psychological aspects of the problem.” He added his hopes that the German Parliament would finally ratify the treaty in the shortest possible time.
