Four Israeli ships were crewless and idle in the Haifa port today following a strike proclaimed by 250 seamen contesting the owners right to curtail foreign currency allocations to the crew when the ships dock in foreign ports.
The strike is not approved by the Israel Federation of Labor. The owners of the ships refuse to start any negotiations until the strikers return to work.
