The Israel Government today instructed its delegation at the United Nations to demand inclusion on the General Assembly agenda of an item about the Egyptian expulsion of Jews.
The Israel request for General Assembly discussion will point out that the expulsion of the Jews and confiscation of their property is “unprecedented in civilized countries” and that it is an action which penalizes “innocent people.” The Israel Government has contacted a number of neutral states and asked them to assist the deportees.
Six major Israel political parties asked the Israel Government today to take urgent action in behalf of the Egyptian Jews. The Cabinet will hold an extraordinary meeting tomorrow to discuss this situation, after which Premier David Ben Gurion will state the government’s position in the Knesset.
The Jewish Agency today initiated action to alleviate the plight of the Egyptian Jews arriving in Europe. The first groups have arrived in several countries without possessions and with little preparation for leaving homes in which they have spent their entire lives.
