A new settlement in the Galilean hills, near Safed, was dedicated in honor of Dr. David De Sola Pool, spiritual leader of the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue in New York, who was present on the occasion with Mrs. De Sola Pool. The settlement is a project of the Jewish National Fund of America and the Sephardic Jewish community in the United States.
The dedication ceremonies were attended by more than 200 persons from all parts of Israel. The dignitaries included Chief Rabbi Itlzhak Nissim, Behor S. Shitreet, Minister of Police, Mayor A. Hacohen of Safad, Dr. Miriam Freund, President of Hadassah, and others. A scroll was presented to Dr. and Mrs. De Sola Pool.
