Contact between Israelis and Egyptians was completely severed today when Israel broke off talks between local area commanders of the two states in the Gaza area “for the time being.”

For the second time in a week, the Israel delegates to the Israel-Egyptian Mixed Armistice Commission today refused to come to a scheduled meeting of the MAC. The Israelis informed Gen. E. L. M. Burns, UN truce chief, that the execution of two Jews in Cairo had created an atmosphere which was “not propitious” for meetings.
