A contract for the purchase by Zim Israel Lines of a 22,000-ton liner to be built in France, was signed here yesterday. The ship, the SS King Solomon, will be ready in May or June of 1963 and will be able to make the Haifa-to-New York run in 11 days, with a capacity of 1,100 passengers including 200 first class.
The liner, which will have three swimming pools, a large drawing room and two movie theaters, is expected to cont about 36,000,000 Israel pounds ($20,100.000). Another liner, the SS Moledet, previously ordered in France, will the launched Nov. 23 and will enter service next June on the Haifa-Marseilles run.
