Israel’s newest tanker, the “Red Sea,” just purchased from the United States, will be placed on the Black Sea-Haifa run in August to transport Russian crude oil to Israel, the Ministry of Communications announced today.
The 12,500 ton vessel brings Israel’s tanker tonnage to 52,000 and the overall merchant marine tonnage to 178,000. The merchant marine fleet includes five passenger liners with accommodations for 2,180 passengers, and 14 fruit freighters with air conditioned holds.
