Israel is one of the 60 countries attending a two-day international conference on humanitarian assistance for the Kampuchean people (Cambodia) which opened here yesterday. Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Yoel Baromi, announced today that Israel will contribute $250,000 to the Kampuchean relief fund and stressed that his country’s help to southeast Asian refugees involves not only giving money but the successful absorption of some of the refugees in Israel. The conference was convened by UN Secretary General Kurt Waldheim with the participation of the International Red Cross and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. The objective is to raise $236 million for Kampuchean relief this year.
