Informed sources said today Israel will appeal again to the United Nations Security Council against Egypt’s barring of Israel ships from the Suez Canal. The note will also touch on the seizure of the Israeli ship, the Bat Galim.

An Israeli spokesman said the new note of protest was being prepared for submission to the Council. The note reportedly will inform the Security Council that Egypt still continues its blockade of Israeli shipping through the canal and is blacklisting foreign vessels carrying goods’ to Israel.

Meanwhile, the Israel Government announced that two of its soldiers were wounded this afternoon when an Israeli patrol was attacked by Jordanians along the frontier. The Jordanians opened up with machine gun and rifle fire. The patrol did not reply, but did not leave the area until reinforcements arrived to enable it to retreat.
