The Ministry of Social Welfare has decided to establish a special authority to deal with the problems of the aged, it was officially announced here today.
The new Gerontological Authority will coordinate the work of various institutions for the aged and the research work in medical and social economic problems of older persons. At present, the institutions deal in one form or another with 140,000 persons over 60 years of age. Statistical forecasts indicate that within ten years their number will be about 320,000.
