Israel’s first television station will begin operations within a year under the direction of the Weizmann Institute, Benjamin Abrahams, president of Emerson Radio and Television, said here this week-end before returning to New York.
Mr. Abrahams said the station will be non-commercial and constructed for educational and recreation purposes. Television sets provided by the Emerson Company will be located in various public places including kibbutzim. Mr. Abrahams visited Israel as a member of the Israel bond planning commission.
