For the first time, Israel will host an international conference under U.N. auspices.
Organized by the Israeli government, the International Symposium on Sustainable Water Management in Arid and Semi-Arid Regions is being co-sponsored by the government of Japan, the U.N. Development Program and the International Arid Lands Consortium.
The Arid Lands Consortium is a U.S.-based technical organization, whose members include the Jewish National Fund.
The conference will take place May 15-19 at Kibbutz Ramat Rahel, located within Jerusalem’s municipal boundaries.
The israeli mission to the United Nations initiated the symposium in the wake of discussions with the U.N. Development Committee and its chairman, the Malaysian ambassador to the United Nations.
