Israel will shortly place under for two freighters to be built in French shipyards, it was announced here today. Construction costs will be financed by a French loan to Israel. The two ships will be operated by a new company in which both Israeli and Swiss capital has been invested.
A new plant for the processing of phosphates will soon be constructed at Demona in the Negev, it was announced here today. The cost of the plant is estimated at 20,000,000 Israeli pounds. The plant, one of the largest in the country, will be built by Histadrut. In the first full year of operation, the plant is expected to export ten thousand tons of phosphates and bring between $2,000,000 and $3,000,000 in foreign currency.
