The first stage of Israel’s national water project which will divert water from the Jordan River to the Negev will be completed during 1964, the Ministry of Finance announced here today. The total cost of the first stage, according to the announcement, will be more than 300,000,000 pounds ($100,000,000).
During the first year of operation, the pipeline will be able to carry 180,000,000 cubic meters of water to the south. This capacity will be 300,000,000 cubic meters when the second stage of the project is completed.
