The Black Star shipping line of Ghana, hitherto a joint Israeli-Ghana enterprise, will pass into exclusive Ghanaian ownership on August 26 when the Accra Government takes over the 40 percent interest of the Zim-Israel Navigation Company, it was announced here today.
The Israeli shipping firm will continue to manage the Black Star line for five years in return for two-and-one-half percent of the gross revenue, the announcement disclosed.
Dr. N. Wydra, director of the Zim lines, said today that the company felt that its mission with regard to joint operations with Ghana was to train the Ghanaians to take over all departments in the shortest time. “Our job is to train them effectively, hand over and go home, ” he declared.
