Israel voiced interest in the deployment of foreign peacekeepers in southern Lebanon. “Given the Lebanese army’s weakness, we would support an international force that would have powers of enforcement, be deployed in the South and impose its authority,” Defense Minister Amir Peretz said Sunday after meeting with visiting German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
