Israel wrote a letter to the U.N. secretary general protesting anti-Israel statements by the top U.N. envoy for Iraq. In a letter to Kofi Annan, Israel’s U.N. ambassador, Dan Gillerman, blasted a statement by envoy Lakhdar Brahimi, who called Israeli policy “the great poison in the region.” Gillerman demanded that Annan apprise Lakhdar of his misconduct for partisan criticism of Israel and drawing “a specious and unfair connection between the situations in the two arenas.”
