Israeli air and naval forces bombarded Palestinian security targets in the Gaza Strip, destroying a number of buildings and several armored personnel carriers. The Israel Defense Force said the operation came in retaliation for repeated Palestinian mortar attacks on Israeli communities in the Gaza Strip and inside Israel.
