Israeli businessman Sammy Ofer withdrew a $20 million pledge to the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. The oil and real estate billionaire and his wife, Aviva, announced the cancellation in Ha’aretz last week. They wrote that it was a reaction to what they labeled a smear campaign by Tel Aviv residents, other donors, politicians and the media, who protested the conditions the Ofers attached to the donation.
