American Jewish youth remain “almost the only ones who can bring to Israel the benefits of a rich education and an intensive modern training,” Eliaku Epstein, Israeli representative to the United States, said yesterday in urging American youth to contribute their “skill, know-how, and training to the new state.”

Speaking to delegates to the 14th annual convention of Masada here, Mr. Epstein lauded the role of youth in successfully accomplishing the creation of Israel. He called upon Masada to take the lead in preparing those who decide to be associated with private industrial undertakings, communal agricultural development and regional reclamation projects in Israel.

Addressing himself to American youth, Mr. Epstein asserted that “no one is as qualified as you are to bring these valuable resources to Israel by coming to us and filling the urgent need for more pioneers in agriculture, for experts in technical, administrative and professional fields. You will therefore loyally fulfill your duties both as Americans and Jews. It was not the United Nations that presented the state to us on a platter, but it was the work of your youth which created Israel,” he said.
