Minister of Finance Eliezer Kaplan today submitted to the Israeli State Council a proposed budget of 7,800,000 pounds ($31,200,000) for the six-month period from July through December, 1948. This total does not include the special appropriations for security measures.
The Anglo-Palestine Bank’s Issue Department announced today that more than 27,000,000 new pounds have already been issued and exchanged for the currency of the former Mandatory Power. Today is the expiration date for exchanging these former British notes for the new Israeli currency.
