Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres told Israeli Radio that Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat’s efforts to quell violence had resulted in a “drastic” reduction in Palestinian attacks. Hours after Peres spoke, however, the army said a mortar bomb was fired at one of its posts in the Gaza Strip, causing no casualties or damage.
